Bio
James Miller is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and President of Cal-Diego Paralyzed Veterans Association. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1993 and served until 1995. During his service, he was a radar avionics technician on the F-15 and rated for the F-111 while stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. He worked with the 59th Fighter Squadron and was also a member of the Eglin AFB 33rd Fighter Wing Honor Guard.
James suffered a spinal cord injury following a car accident in 1995. Following that, he was also diagnosed with a genetic spine disease, which complicated the residuals of his spine injury. After a period of coping with his conditions, James became involved in veteran advocacy in 2007, first as a volunteer, then as a member of Cal-Diego PVA’s board of directors. Since, he has served as Vice President and Hospital Liaison Committee Chair.
James’ long-term employment goal is employment in the field of Social Work, working with fellow veterans. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, he intends to pursue a master’s degree in Social Work.
