19th Annual Summer Trapshoot

By: Jim Russell

The festivities started with a great breakfast prepared by Hilda Fox and Linda Schneider, breakfast burritos, accompanied by a medley of fresh fruit and fresh donuts. It just doesn’t get any better than that. We also had southern Cal’s usual morning low clouds to keep it from getting too hot. Those had disappeared by the time we started shooting so we had a beautiful day for shooting. The venue was 50 singles, 50 handicap & 25 pair of doubles followed by an Annie Oakley. There was one all around perfect score, Terry Bilbey scored a perfect 150/150. Great shooting Terry. There were 2 perfect scores in singles, Charlie Bover and Jim Russell, followed by 3 that dropped only one target, Doug Vann, Max Adkison, and Dennis Carter. That’s great shooting! Handicap was a little different story, only 1 perfect score, Terry Bilby, and none that had only dropped 1 target. What a difference a few yards does make. And then when we got to 2 targets in the air at the same time we had 4 perfect scores, De Savage, Charlie Bover, Jim Moltz and Terry Bilbey, followed by three that had just one dropped target, Lee Specht, Doug Vann, and Dennis Carter. Diane Savage was the last shooter standing at the Annie Oakley. We took a break following the handicap targets for a great lunch, barbecue chicken, baked beans, rice and a whole host of other goodies including some awesome cookies. Our chefs really outdid themselves. Great job committee! Our thanks to all that attended. We hope you had an enjoyable time. In other trap news the Cal-Diego team departs this week for the PVA Circuit competition at the Wisconsin PVA shoot in Green Bay. Our team will consist of Bill Palmer, Doug Vann, Joe Fox Jr, Keith Rheinhardt and Jim Russell. Hope to see you there.
