Wisconsin Trap Shoot

Cal-Diego’s Nineteenth Annual Summer Trapshoot just took place on 22 July and for the first time in three years we were back at Redlands Shooting Park. Fun was had by all, all 29 that participated, and several that just watched from the sidelines. That is down from the 32 that we had last July. This was a Step Out Side Program Event partially funded by the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Our thanks to them.

June 19, 2006 Salt Water Fishing

Cal-Diego First Annual One Day Salt Water Fishing Trip

The trip was aboard the good ship Reel Fun operated by Dana Wharf Sport Fishing out of Dana Point Harbor. Sixteen PVA´ers (9 in wheelchairs) and a crew of four sailed forth at 10:00 AM to a great day of fun, food, camaraderie and fishing. It was a nice cool morning with a slight breeze plus overcast. The overcast remained with us for the entire trip, keeping the temperature to a nice 78 degrees. The galley was busy preparing breakfast burritos on the short trip out of the harbor and south to just off the coast of San Clemente. During the trip out those that were interested contributed $5.00 for a big fish jackpot and Ed Paz was kept busy recording this great event in pictorial form for posterity. Thanks Ed, we appreciate your good work.

April 2006 Trapshoot

18th Annual Sprint Trapshoot

Cal-Diego’s Eighteenth Annual Trapshoot was completely new when it took place on 6 through 8 April this year. We were at a new location, the San Diego Shotgun Sports Association’s trap range located on Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, we were at a new hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, we used Cal-Diego’s transportation system, and we had a new twist in the course of competition. We replaced the 25 pair of handicap doubles with 50 handicap targets at the 24-yard line. That attracted 58 shooters on Friday and 63 on Saturday with 32 of them wheelers.

Winter Sports Clinic

April 2006

"Miracles on a Mountainside" was the theme of this year´s National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic, held April 2-9. DAV sponsored this wonderful event held every year in Snowmass, CO. The title which this event bears – Winter Sports Clinic (WSC) encompasses it all. Events offered include: downhill skiing, cross country skiing, trap shooting, archery, fencing, rock climbing, scuba diving, gondola rides, yoga, snowshoeing... the list just goes on and on. Everyone agreed, there was something for everyone. When not involved in the active sporting events there was always plenty of entertainment in the evenings with big-name stars appearing like Clay Walker. Nightly entertainment and dancing took place, provided one had enough energy left to take part.
